Behind the Scenes at our JCS Photoshoot
August 2017

At LMS we try to make every aspect of our show as professional as possible and that includes our show programme. Today our principal characters had a full on creative photo shoot. Who knew how much effort and thought goes in to taking just one photograph! We can't wait to share the results with you.

Huge thanks to See Saw Creative and everyone else involved who volunteered their time and skills - what a wonderful day.

If this is the effort we go to just for our programme, imagine what we put in to the show! Don't miss out - grab your tickets now - treat yourself. www.tinyurl.com/LMSJesus

LMS Energizer Run
August 2016

We at LMS like to consider ourselves a bunch of fit people, always up for a challenge (how many shots can we manage in an hour?!) and love nothing more than a good run… to the pub. So when brainstorming for fundraising events for the year, what else would we consider other than a run? On an obstacle course? For many members… many other things.

But we do love a challenge, and so the LMS Energizer Run was born!

lms-energizer-run

Come Saturday 20th August, in partnership with Energy Fitness, you’ll find LMS and friends running, skipping and jumping our way around a 5K course at Crofthead Farm!

There are still places left, so if you and some friends are interested, speak to any LMS member, or call 07415 960543 now to book your place!

Rock Of Ages
March 2016

Starting a new show is always an exciting time with the thrill of auditions, and that all-important release of the cast list!

Our unofficial motto is ‘work hard, play hard’, and to that end, rehearsals involve much work and commitment – for principals, chorus, backstage and production team alike. Of course, this can only be followed by an equal (if not stronger!) commitment to letting our hair down, rocking out and having nothing but a good time!

Rehearsals have now begun, and the cast are all excited to put on another fantastic show come October! Keep an eye out for tickets, on public sale August 2016.

NODA 2015
Nov 2015

On Friday 23rd October, members made the journey to Peebles for a weekend away to attend the annual NODA conference.

The weekend commenced with members arriving at our accommodation on the Friday evening -  a bunk house in the beautiful Peebles countryside 10 minutes from Peebles Hydro where the main events of the weekend would take place. The night saw us enjoy a Chinese take away with plenty of refreshments to keep us hydrated as the night continued.

The following morning, the aroma of fried bacon drifted through the house, drawing members to the kitchen where our LMS domestic goddesses were preparing breakfast. With hangovers cured, we then ventured to Peebles Hydro where we were able to watch some of the ongoing workshops. A drinks reception followed this hosted by our regional NODA representative, Davies Brock. Here, members got to meet some members from other clubs in our district, some of whom had been to see our most recent production of “Sister Act”.

With only 6 hours left to go until the ball at night, it was then time to head back to the bunkhouse so the girls (and some of the guys!) could begin their momentous preparations for the night ahead. Our very own wardrobe mistress opened up a pop up boutique in the dining room, where she styled hair and make-up - if you’ve ever witnessed any attempt to style a bush like President Hynds’ you will understand that this was no mean feat! With the girls glammed up and the gents dressed to the nines in their kilts, it was time to head to the hotel for the night’s entertainment!

The meal was set in the grand ball room, where a pianist played show tunes as we enjoyed our meal. Picture this… 150 musical fanatics trying to out-harmonise one another – it’s fair to say LMS gave everyone a good run for their money, with El Presidente starting a 150-strong napkin waving competition, Les Mis style! A lengthy speech proceeded the meal which members turned into a fun and interactive game... who knew speeches could be so enjoyable?

With drinks refilled, it was time for LMS to get our boogie on and dance the night away before the midnight cabaret. This year’s show was performed by Musselburgh Musical Society and contained a variety of musical numbers, old and new. Having watched the cabaret, LMS members were excited about performing the cabaret next year! The excitement continued and led to an impromptu sing song in the foyer whilst waiting for taxis!

The Sunday morning again saw members being woken by the same familiar smell of bacon as another breakfast was prepared. Having scoffed our sausages, we made our way back to Peebles Hydro for the AGM and presentation of awards. The AGM ran smoothly and was quickly followed by the awards ceremony. LMS were delighted to be awarded the top honor of the day, the Deluxe Programme Award for our “Anything Goes” programme. Laura Hynds, her team and SeeSaw Creative were thanked for creating another outstanding programme! What a great end to the weekend!

The weekend was rounded off with a pub lunch in Peebles after which we all returned home for a much needed rest!
